Good morning, it’s Mother’s Day! There will be a lot of discussion about the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in which the Netherlands was not allowed to participate. There are parliamentary elections in Catalonia, and there is a lot of sports going on again.

The weather: there is a lot of sun today and it remains dry everywhere. With a moderate east to southeast wind it will be 22 to 26 degrees. Later this evening and tonight in the south and southwest perhaps a few showers.

Are you going on the road? Here you will find an overview of the work. And here you can see where work is being done on the track.

What can you expect today?

This happened last night:

Switzerland is the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest. Nemo received the most points for his performance of The Code. This year was a heavily charged edition with extra security, protests, unprecedented boos and the disqualification of the Dutch entry. Although there were extensive celebrations in Sweden’s Malmö Arena, there were loud demonstrations outside against Israel’s participation. That country finished in fifth place. Just below France, Ukraine and Croatia.

The Netherlands was disqualified with Joost Klein, so Europe was not treated to the exciting Europapa. It was striking that Estonia thanked the audience in Dutch at the end of the performance, which seemed to be a veiled support for Klein. The public did not appreciate his exclusion either. It earned Eurovision boss Martin Österdahl loud cheers. All in all it was an eventful final, but with the first non-binary winner ever.
