Man arrested in Prague for killing Ukrainian girl (9) in Germany
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in the Czech capital Prague in connection with the death of a Ukrainian girl in Germany. The body of 9-year-old Valeriia was found on Tuesday in a forest in her hometown of Döbeln, between Leipzig and Dresden. On June 3, she went missing on her way to school.
The Public Prosecution Service in Germany says there are strong indications that the man killed the girl. According to the first investigation results, she was not sexually abused.
9-year-old Valeriia comes from Ukraine. She had fled to Germany with her mother two years ago because of the war.

The suspect is from Moldova. There were national and European arrest warrants against him. He is now in custody in the Czech Republic. The Public Prosecution Service wants him to be extradited to Germany as soon as possible.
Tonight there will be a vigil in Döbeln. There will also be a memorial service in the city on Sunday.
