Released saw blade narrowly misses American: ‘I wouldn’t have survived that’
An American has narrowly escaped a gruesome death due to a loose saw blade. The metal blade, measuring over a meter in size, dug centimeters deep into a door that Shane Reimche had just passed.
Image from the surveillance camera at the convenience store that Reimche entered shows how the saw blade shot dozens of meters across the street just after he entered.
The tour ended with a bang in the storefront:
“I was standing behind the counter and heard metal rolling on the street,” the store owner told an American channel in the state of Oregon. “At first I thought it was the wind, but then we heard a loud bang. The whole store was shaking.”
Images in the store show that the inventory indeed shakes when the tray comes to a stop in the door frame. The impact was so great that the blade pushed wall panels off the wall.
“I’m lucky that I’m still here,” Reimche said in the media. “I wouldn’t have survived if that had hit me.”
“Apparently it wasn’t my time yet, but I’ve never come that close.”
It is not yet clear how the blade of the concrete saw came loose at the opposite construction site. A contractor thinks that perhaps a bolt was not properly tightened or that some other human error occurred.
