‘Body of missing Dutch tourist found on Samos’

The body of the Dutch tourist who went missing on the Greek island of Samos last Sunday has been found in a ravine. This was reported by the Greek broadcaster ERT.

The 74-year-old man was found with the help of a local emergency services drone, about 300 meters from where he was last seen.

The man went for a walk last Sunday in the southwest of the island, near the town of Marathokampos. The route he took is known as particularly challenging.

Helicopters, rescue dogs and drones

The Greek police started a large-scale search. A helicopter, rescue dogs and drones were deployed. The search was halted on Thursday, but resumed today after a tip was received.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot yet confirm that the body of the missing Dutchman has been found. The ministry is in contact with the family and provides consular assistance.
