Titanic’s final scene door sold at auction for $718,000
The door from the final scene of the film Titanic has been sold at auction for 718,000 dollars, more than 660,000 euros. In the final scene of the famous film, protagonists and lovers Jack and Rose say goodbye to each other in the icy water while the cruise ship slowly sinks.
In director James Cameron’s Oscar-winning film, Jack and Rose do not fit on the door together. To prevent Rose from dying, Jack sacrifices himself and drowns.
After fans came up with theories that both could have lived, Cameron tested these theories for a documentary two years ago. The director then had to acknowledge that, under very specific circumstances, Jack and Rose could both have survived the disaster unscathed.
It is not known who bought the door.
Other attributes
At the auction in Dallas, other famous attributes were also sold, such as Indiana Jones’ whip (USD 525,000) and Tobey Maguire’s black Spider-Man suit from the third installment in the series (USD 125,000).
