Terence Stamp, who played a role of villain in Superman films, died
The British actor Terence Stamp died at the age of 87. He was known to the general public as the interpreter of De Schurk General as in the superman films of 1978 and 1980, in which Christopher Reeve played the lead role of Superman.
Other films in which he played are The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, The Limey and Valkyrie . Fans of Star Wars know him as the deposed Chancellor Valorum in the movie The Phantom Menace .
Stamp started his career energetically, with a debut role in the film Billy Budd from 1962. For that he received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting role and he won a Golden Globe as the best newcomer.
The Brit had roles in dozens of films and was active until old age. He played in the TV series Smallville from 2003 to 2011. His last film roll was in the horror film last night in Soho from 2021.
“He leaves an extraordinary oeuvre, both as an actor and as a writer, that people will continue to touch and inspire for years,” writes Stamp’s family in a statement. Nothing has been announced about the circumstances of Stamp’s death.
