30 people upside down for half an hour in US amusement park
Thirty visitors to an amusement park in Oregon, in the northwest of the US, hung upside down in an attraction for half an hour before being rescued from their plight by rescuers.
The attraction called AtmosFEAR resembles a huge pendulum, which can swing its occupants completely around. When the thirty people became stuck at a height of more than 15 meters, firefighters tried to lower the pendulum manually. That worked, so that an operation with lifelines was not necessary.
Visitors to the park look on in amazement when the attraction is stuck:
All occupants have been medically examined. No injuries were reported.
Visitors were asked to leave the park after the incident. It is not known what caused the attraction to crash. Oaks Park is located right in the city of Portland and advertises modern attractions combined with historic charm. The park opened its doors in 1905.
